I remember cool, crisp autumn mornings when Mom would set a plate of fresh-from-the-oven biscuits on the table for breakfast. Along side the biscuits, there would be a little jar of honey or sorghum or some of last year’s preserves, and a pat of butter. There was nothing better!

I still have some biscuits topped like that as often as I can… sometimes, I substitute a stack of buttermilk pancakes or a couple waffles for the biscuits.
